REDUCING RISK, RESTORING TRUST: A LEADERSHIP ROLE FOR IT

October 28-29, 2004, Four Seasons Hotel, San Francisco, CA

OVERVIEW AND MISSION

The visibility of information technology as a component of operational risk has never been higher and the changing nature of those risks means that even for the best firms it needs to be under constant review.

Those responsible for mitigating IT risk are finding it difficult to manage the complexity of the risks facing their enterprise while attempting to accomplish this with limited budget dollars. At the same time that IT executives are striving to be seen as trusted business partners, corporate executives are dealing with the challenge of building a roadmap to restore trust in their enterprises.

IT Risk executives, along with their peers on the business side of the enterprise, are faced with the challenge of developing and maintaining a trusted and secure environment for customers, employees and shareholders while managing complex IT issues with limited budgets.

While the primary Financial and Technology risk components include on-demand strategy, security, outsourcing, regulatory compliance, and disaster recovery/business continuance, a critical success factor is the building of a cross functional team made up of key individuals within the Audit, Compliance, Finance, IT and Legal departments with visibility and support at the highest levels within the corporation.

The Reducing Risk, Restoring Trust: A Leadership Role for IT Summit will address the concerns of the IT department and their counterparts on the business side as they wrestle with making prudent decisions on where to allocate resources and how to build "Trust" teams.
