John Stehman: Strategic Consulting Partner



John Stehman is Strategic Consulting Partner for Robert Frances Group.

Mr. Stehman has more than 30 years of experience in the data and telecommunications industry. This includes roles in engineering, network operations, sales, and technical marketing. His areas of expertise include data communications network design, radio frequency (RF) communications, satellite and terrestrial communications networks, and network management platforms. He is also well-versed in technologies such as Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), Frame Relay, virtual private networks (VPNs), and X.25. Mr. Stehman is an active Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) senior member, and a member of the IEEE standards group He is also a past member of the ADSL Forum and the TeleManagement Forum.

At RFG, Mr. Stehman focuses on all areas of wireless communications including 802.11 wireless LANs and network architectures and infrastructures, including 2.5G and 3G carrier networks. Mr. Stehman also assists clients in defining wireless network requirements, evaluating technology solutions, preparing and evaluating contracts and service level agreements (SLAs), and insuring compatibility of business applications with wireless environments. Mr. Stehman is also actively involved in helping clients define requirements for enterprise data network infrastructures and network management best practices, especially in areas such as carrier environments, security, VPNs and wireless.

Mr. Stehman has worked in both vendor and user environments, and brings a strong grasp of networking and operations experience to RFG. At American Airlines, Mr. Stehman served as Vice President of Network Services, where he was responsible for marketing, operations, and sales. The worldwide American Airlines SABRE network employed Frame Relay and X.25 technologies to support more than 10,000 Novell NetWare LANs, with an availability of at least 99.95 percent.

Before joining RFG, Mr. Stehman served as Director of Network Management Systems for Diamond Lane Communications (now a part of Nokia) commercial and service provider DSL product families.

At Harris Corporation, Mr. Stehman held various senior roles in product management and sales. While there, he supported a wide portfolio of communication products and systems, including digital PBX systems, IBM 3270-compatible terminals, network management software, short-haul microwave systems, wireless video communication systems, and X.25 packet-switched networks. In addition, he served as the technical liaison officer to AT&T for wireless data communication networks based on very small aperture terminals (VSAT) satellite technologies.

Mr. Stehman also has extensive experience with the operations support systems (OSS) used by competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs), Internet service providers (ISPs), and telephone companies. He has provided many technical solutions to improve and integrate the various fault and configuration management systems found in these diverse environments.

Mr. Stehman began his professional career with Sperry Univac in 1970 as a computer system engineer supporting the Pennsylvania State Police data communication network. He joined that company after serving five years in the US Air Force as a microwave and satellite communication engineer. Mr. Stehman received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Drexel University, and attended the University of Florida for his MBA.

Michael JD Sutton: Strategic Consulting Partner



Michael Sutton is a Strategic Consulting Partner for Robert Frances Group.

Professor Michael JD Sutton is a management consulting generalist and knowledge scientist. Mr. Sutton has extensive experience in leading, managing, teaching, and technical architecture initiatives. For the past 15 years, he has focused his creative thinking, critical analysis, project management acumen, and strong writing skills in the area of Organizational Memory Management and the emerging field of Knowledge Management. He advises and mentors teams in the application of knowledge and information management principles and practices.

Mr. Sutton brings a rich variety of business, management, and academic experiences from his 35-year professional career, including positions held as Senior Director of Document Engineering and Knowledge Management, Managing Principal, Partner, Teaching Master, and Information Resources Manager. His interdisciplinary background and 'boundary spanning' experience encompasses:

  • business policy and strategy,
  • business process analysis and reengineering,
  • complex adaptive systems,
  • document and records management,
  • leadership and project management,
  • information science,
  • information technology,
  • knowledge management (KM),
  • management information systems (MIS),
  • organizational behavior, design and theory, and
  • strategic management.

    Mr. Sutton is currently completing his doctoral work at McGill University on an "Examination of the Historical Sensemaking Processes Representing the Development of Knowledge Management Curricula in Universities." This independent scholarly research performed during the last two decades culminated in the publication of his bookDocument Management for the Enterprise: Principles, Techniques, and Applications, (Wiley, 1996). This monograph has been widely adopted as a textbook in the field of organizational memory management. He has published widely in academic and trade journals.

    Mr. Sutton provides decisive leadership in conducting client facilitation and education sessions for private and public sector clients. He has worked with organizations ranging from Microsoft Corp., Frank Russell Co., and the US Department of the Navy to the Canadian Department of Defence, Solicitor General of Canada, and the National Guide for Sustainable Municipal Infrastructure. Mr. Sutton has also worked with many international United Nations agencies, numerous departments of the Canadian federal government, the Provincial Government of British Columbia, and several municipalities.

    Mr. Sutton has served on international standards bodies (ISO) providing direction and guidance in the development of numerous standards and specifications. He has promoted cooperation and collaboration amongst academics, significant business end-users, and vendors of information management methods, techniques and tools. Asst. Professor Sutton currently coordinates the teaching and research associated with the Knowledge Management concentration within the interdisciplinary Information Architecture and Knowledge Management Program at Kent State University in Kent, OH.

    Frank J. Fanzilli, Jr.: Strategic Consulting Partner

    Frank J. Fanzilli, Jr. is a Strategic Consulting Partner for Robert Frances Group

    Frank J. Fanzilli, Jr. retired from Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) as Global CIO and Managing Director in April 2002, after a 17-year tenure in IT at CSFB.

    Mr. Fanzilli now works extensively with venture capital and emerging companies in the technology field. As technology became one of the clear differentiators for financial services firms, Mr. Fanzilli led CSFB's growth in this area in a number of ways. In Europe, as head of CSFB's London-based European Information Services, he integrated CSFB's European IT operations and expanded processing to all major exchanges.

    In business applications, as Head of Applications Development, Mr. Fanzilli expanded deployment of the firm's Global Trading and Settlement platform, still considered "best in class" by many industry observers. He also launched CSFB's first global investment banking platform.

    As Global CIO, Mr. Fanzilli integrated CSFB's IT resources into a single, unified global division.

    Dennis Kennedy: Strategic Consulting Partner

    Dennis Kennedy is a Strategic Consulting Partner for Robert Frances Group.

    Mr. Kennedy is well-known legal technology expert. He is a solo practitioner in St. Louis, MO with a concentration in computer law. He also provides legal technology consulting services, including seminars, strategic planning, technology budget audits, and Web site audits. He is also a member of Webzine Board of the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association (ABA), and of the "TechShow 2004" Board.

    A frequent author and speaker, Mr. Kennedy was named the 2001 "TechnoLawyer of the Year" by TechnoLawyer.com for his role in promoting the use of technology in the practice of law. His works are highly regarded resources on issues related to technology law and legal technology. He has collected 100 of his articles into an e-book, "Dennis Kennedy's Legal Technology Primer."

    Chad Robinson: Strategic Consulting Partner



    Chad Robinson is a Strategic Consulting Partner for Robert Frances Group.

    Mr. Robinson has extensive hands-on experience working with Linux, Microsoft Windows, Novell NetWare, Unix, and other back-office operating systems. He is well-versed in issues such as directory services, integration with other systems, scalability, and network security. His areas of expertise also include back-office applications such as IBM DB2, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Exchange, Oracle, SQL Server and numerous other third-party and end-user software packages.

    Prior to joining RFG, Mr. Robinson was an Assistant Vice President for BRT Technologies, Inc., a Danbury, Connecticut-based consulting firm specializing in long-term IT management and outsourcing services for the financial, legal, and manufacturing sectors. He oversaw the technology management analyst and developer team, giving him a unique view into the particular problems and concerns of clients attempting to integrate various technology products in a rapidly changing market.

    During his time at BRT, Mr. Robinson was involved in the installation, integration, and maintenance of Linux, NetWare, Unix, and Windows servers and workstations at several regional financial institutions and global manufacturing firms. These projects covered all aspects of system integration, from security and scalability issues to long-term financial stability of the software providers.

    His time at BRT also involved custom development projects. Three global manufacturing firms attribute their successful migrations to accounting systems compliant with Year 2000 (Y2K) requirements to Mr. Robinson's work. At each firm, he customized industry-standard accounting packages to the company's unique needs, allowing each to retain features from legacy systems critical to future operations.

    Mr. Robinson is also an active supporter of the Open Source community. His past work includes writing and contributing a database driver for the PHP language, an Open Source development language for server-side Web development. In addition, he is a regularly featured contributor to the "Best of Technical Support" column in the Linux Journal, a trade publication dedicated to the Linux operating system. Mr. Robinson has also given a presentation on the growing acceptance of the Linux operating system in the enterprise to the Westchester chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals.

    Atul Kapoor: Strategic Consulting Partner



    Atul Kapoor is a Strategic Consulting Partner for Robert Frances Group.

    Mr. Kapoor has 25 years of experience in IT and business strategies, including architecture development, competitive analysis, consulting, network planning and design, product strategies and software engineering. He has extensive experience in hands-on benchmarking of performance and the features and functions of emerging networking technologies.

    Prior to joining RFG, Mr. Kapoor served as CTO for Telekurs, which provides back-office and real-time financial data to major financial institutions worldwide. As CTO, Mr. Kapoor was responsible for the development of delivery platforms, products, and services for real-time market data feeds and back-office data, including corporate actions, reference data, and valuation prices. He was also responsible for developing disaster recovery plans, network architectures, and tools for customer, operations, sales, and technical support for both measuring and reporting SLA compliance.

    Mr. Kapoor was also the Principal for Kaptronix, Inc., providing consulting services to Fortune 500 clients in the design and development of complex IT and networking solutions, including business systems analysis. He designed multi-platform distributed applications and consulted on numerous applications re-engineering projects, and on enterprise networks, including intranets, LANs, VPNs, and WANs. Kaptronix also specialized in analyzing the impact of emerging technologies (VoIP, broadband); network and systems management architecture; and applications audit and reengineering. Mr. Kapoor also provided technology and management training for firms such as AT&T, IBM, Lucent, Morgan Stanley, Nortel, Shell Oil, and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). Previous positions included Senior Analyst for the Depository Trust Co. and Systems Programmer for Pershing & Co.

    In addition to extensive hand-on technology implementation and management experience, Mr. Kapoor has published extensively in the technology field, including numerous papers and a book published by McGraw Hill on network architectures, implementations, and protocols. He has served on the advisory boards of some of the largest high-tech conferences, and chaired numerous technical conferences and panels. He holds a M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California (USC), and a B.S. in Electronics and Communications from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

    Keith Fiveson: Strategic Consulting Partner



    Founder, Managing Consultant, ITESA

    Keith W. Fiveson, who began his corporate career in 1979, has extensive hands on experience in marketing and sales development in the retail and aftermarket industries, telecommunications and CRM contact center market. He is currently the Principal Consultant and founder of IT Enabled Service Alliance (ITESA), providing management consulting services to global enterprises. In addition, Fiveson has worked with health care and financial industries and has done business with more than forty (40) countries during his career with MCI, AT&T, British Telecom and Concert.

    Fiveson has over 20 years of experience in building outsourcing, networking, technology and marketing programs with dozens of Fortune 500 companies and was actively involved in engagements with Citicorp, American Express, Chase Bank, Merrill Lynch, Aetna, GE Capital and many others.

    Fiveson was born in Freeport, Long Island, New York. In 1975, he joined the U.S. Army, where he traveled throughout the U.S. and Germany. As a telecommunications expert, he received top-secret level clearance from the U.S. Government.

    Fiveson completed the Fordham University Executive MBA program in communications. As well, he attended Heidelberg University in Germany and obtained a B.S. degree in Marketing Communications at St. Peters College, a private Jesuit College in New Jersey
